JACQUES & OLIVIER BARREAU
Jacques and Olivier BARREAU founders of Grain de Sail are winners of the 2021 Company Award, rewarding the overall performance reconciling economic, social, societal and environmental performance.
The Grain de Sail adventure was born in 2010, the feet in the water in Morlaix, with the idea of decarbonizing transatlantic shipping through a unique means of transport: the cargo sailboat. Operating since November 2020, the Grain de Sail, the first modern shipping sailboat to become a merchant, exports organic French wines to the United States and imports coffee and cocoa from Latin America into France. Olivier and Jacques BARREAU are the founders and directors of the company which besides being a shipowner, transforms and produces, in collaboration with the ÉSAT Les Genêts d'Or, more than 300 tons of chocolate tablets and nearly 50 tons of coffee. The company aims to provide consumers with high-quality, environmentally responsible products, including in their transport, and at affordable prices, which is made possible by the integration of these different activities in the same company.
Olivier and Jacques BARREAU decided to make the Association « The Golden Genets » with whom they work, beneficiaries of the financial allocation of 10 000€ attached to the price.
